Code 128 with GS1 application identifiers β the standard for pallets, parcels and supply-chain traceability.
Print settings (PDF/EPS vector)
BWR compensates for dot gain on press β bars are drawn narrower in the file so they come out right on paper. Ask your printer for the recommended value (typical: 10β40 ΞΌm offset, 0 for thermal labels). Applies to PDF/EPS; SVG exports in black and white for screen use.
PDF/EPS are true vector with CMYK and BWR β press-ready. PNG/JPG export in high resolution for screen and office printers.
About GS1-128
GS1-128 uses Code 128 technology but structures the content with application identifiers (AI): (01) GTIN, (10) batch number, (17) expiry date, (00) SSCC parcel number and more. This lets the receiving system know exactly what each field means.
This is the code on transport labels (the GS1 logistics label) and required by most large retail chains for pallet and parcel marking.
Used for
- Logistics labels (SSCC parcel numbers)
- Batch/lot and expiry dates in food and pharma
- EDI-connected delivery flows
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from regular Code 128?
Technically the same bars β but GS1-128 starts with an FNC1 character and follows the GS1 AI structure, so batch, dates and GTIN can be parsed by every party in the chain.
What is an SSCC?
Serial Shipping Container Code, AI (00) β a unique 18-digit parcel number identifying a specific pallet or box throughout the transport chain.
