BWR compensates for dot gain on press β€” bars are drawn narrower in the file so they come out right on paper. Ask your printer for the recommended value (typical: 10–40 ΞΌm offset, 0 for thermal labels). Applies to PDF/EPS; SVG exports in black and white for screen use.

PDF/EPS are true vector with CMYK and BWR β€” press-ready. PNG/JPG export in high resolution for screen and office printers.

About UPC-A

UPC-A is the standard code in US and Canadian retail. Technically it is a subset of EAN-13 (an EAN-13 starting with 0), and modern POS systems read both β€” but some US retailers still require UPC-A on the package.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need both UPC-A and EAN-13?

Usually not β€” an EAN-13 scans in the US and a UPC-A scans in Europe. But if you sell primarily in North America, the trade expects the UPC-A format on the package.

How do I convert UPC-A to EAN-13?

Add a leading zero: UPC-A 012345678905 is the same GTIN as EAN-13 0012345678905.
